Grand
County Pet Pals, Inc. is dedicated to responsible pet ownership,
animal health and education programs and 100% spaying and neutering
of homeless animals in Grand County.
Grand County Pet Pals was
started in 1993 as a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting
the Grand County Animal Shelter with its spay/neuter program. Today,
Pet Pals has several programs to fulfill our mission of responsible
pet ownership in Grand County. We provide funds to the Grand County
Animal Shelter for
their spay/neuter program for animals adopted at the Shelter (195
dogs and cats in 2005), provide funds to families and individuals in
need for spay/neuter of their pets (114 dog and cats in 2005), and
provide assistance to families and individuals in need for
veterinary care, particularly in emergency situations (over $1000 in
2005).
The Pet Pals Board supports these programs through memberships, donations
from individuals, memorial donations, donation jars, and several
fund raising events which include the Doggie Drag Race and Pet
Pictures with Santa. In addition, many
Grand
County businesses lend support. Numerous volunteer
hours are contributed by the Board and volunteers.
